Outdoor Recreation at Its Best!!!
At Elk Butte Recreation visitors can enjoy miles of fresh groomed trails. Trails start near the base of Elk Butte and carry into the beautiful and scenic Clearwater National forest in north central Idaho. The elevation ranges from 2800 ft. at Elk River to 5804 ft. at the top of Elk Butte. Interconnecting trails will take you to many scenic attractions: the giant cedar tree, over 3000 years old, 18 ft. in diameter and 177 ft. tall, Granddad Bridge overlooking Dworshak Reservoir, Captains Cabin, Green Mountain, Hemlock Butte and Elk Butte. You will see a variety of riding conditions from low-lying meadows, to groomed trails to deep powder hill climbing.
The Snowmobiling season runs from the beginning of December through the middle of March. The snow depth ranges from two feet to four feet at the base and from 10 feet to 25 feet in the mountains.
At Elk Butte Recreation you will walk in the front door and ride out the back door on a great snowmobiling adventure.
